With Thermagy integrated into a heating system, electricity is generated automatically while the heating system is operational. Thermagy makes it possible for heating systems to be independent of the grid supply, your heating will continue during power faillures, Thermagy is maintenance free and can be scaled depending on the size of a specific heating system.
Thermagy units use Thermo Electric Generation (TEG) technology. TEG is known as an emerging technology that:
Since quite some time, TEG technology has been considered attractive due to its static and simple application. However, until now TEG is only applied in niches markets and in lower temperature applications, due to high cost and limited research & development progress. With its unique and patented production method, RGS Development has created a simple and cost effective concept, suitable for mass manufacturing and comparable to a solar panel with regard to simplicity of installation. The Thermagy products, aim to access the CHP market to make it possible to create self-supporting heating systems.
Thermagy units show it is possible to generate beside heat, also electricity out of one device without doing concessions regarding functionality, reliability and shows it is possible to be grid independent for heat systems. Conventional heating systems need an electrical power supply to start, manage and distribute the heat. A typical heating system uses ~300Wp electricity and can be self-supporting with power generated by Thermagy. Heating systems reach internally temperatures of 700-1200°C, this is the optimal source temperature for Thermagy. On top of generating electricity and the conventional radiated heat, this water-cooled configuration can distribute or stock hot water (up to 80°C).
Producers of heating systems with burning temperatures of ~700-1200°C within their product can use Thermagy to create a system being self-supporting and distinguish themselves with this unique feature for their product. For remote (off grid) area’s, energy harvesting for autonomous powering (independent of grid) is a revolutionary break through. Over power can be used elsewhere or stored in batteries.
